VFW Post 9191
is one of 60 VFW Military Family Assistance Centers nationwide and
in Europe. These assistance centers was launched in June 2004
for military members and their families. The new VFW Family
Assistance Centers will expand the network of support services and
emergency aid for family members of deployed servicemen by working
in concert with local Military Family Support Centers (FSC) such as
the Army Community Service (ACS) at Fort Hood.
"The Military Assistance Program
(MAP) initiative is an additional resource for families to turn to
in time of need," said Bud Haney, (MAP) Director of the Veterans of
Foreign Wars of the United States Headquarters. "The war and
the extensive development of our servicemen and women have created
a greater need for services to those left behind when a family
member deploys. Sometime the need is as simple as listening,
while sometimes the need is financial. We want family
members, as well as their deployed spouse, to know the Veterans of
Foreign Wars is available for help.
